This week in Science

7th grade-  Students continue to study body systems. They are working in groups of 4 on a project that requires them to research the various body systems and create and advertisement for each system.  Students will continue to research to answer guided body questions for the remainder of the week.

8th grade students continue to experiment with circuits and electricity.  We are in the middle of making parallel and series circuits with switches.

In prep for CRCT next week, I will send home a sample test for students to review.

Today in Science

7th grade

Students analyzed their lung models and experienced what it's like to have lung disease.  We also started a smoking webquest.  Students are expected to finish webquest questions for HW, as well as bring in a smoking ad.

8th grade-Students started on the construction of their quiz boards, as they learn about complete circuits.  We will most likely continue with this tomorrow and Friday.  Quiz boards will serve 2 purposes....1. to provide an opportunity for students to build a closed circuit switch board  2.  to create a very cool study tool in prep for quiz.  If we complete a quiz boards by tomorrow, we will have a quiz on electricity on Friday.

Today in Science

7th grade- Students measured their breathing rates and lung capacities after doing various exercises.  With today's short class schedule, we will make lung models on Monday. No HW

8th grade-  Students continued to experiment with static electricity.  No HW.

Have a great weekend!

Today in Science

7th grade-  Students worked on calculating the volume of air in their lungs as well as their vital and reserve capacity. We will make lung models tomorrow....No Quiz

8th grade-  Students experimented with static electricity, by charging saran wrap and observing the  how statically charged items impact other objects.

More static labs tomorrow.  NO quiz.
